The Washoe ate: trout, suckers, chub and mountain white fish. They also ate: deer, antelope, mountain sheep, rabbits, porcupines, beavers, wood chucks, badgers, chipmunks, gophers, squirrels, mice, moles, quail, grouse, geese, swan, locusts, grasshoppers, onions, camas root, bitter roots and pine nut because they didn't have acorns. They also got sunflowers, mustard and wild rye seeds. The Washoe used bows and arrows and nets to catch their food. They stored their nuts in pits for use throughout the year.
